Electronic Components Reign Supreme in Exports

2025.11.06

With strong demand for new international products and the arrival of the peak season for technology product exports, the Ministry of Finance stated that seven major export categories saw increases in September. Electronic components and ICT/audio-visual products remained the two main export drivers, but the most significant trend this month is that electronic components have regained their position as the top export category.

The Ministry of Finance explained that two main factors contributed to the resurgence of electronic components. The primary factors are the continued strong demand for advanced manufacturing processes driven by the application of AI, the explosive growth in demand for cloud computing and storage, and the supply-demand gap in older-generation DRAM caused by the relocation of production capacity by major international manufacturers. This gap appears to be widening, further fueling export growth.

Exports of electronic components reached US$21.43 billion in September, setting a new monthly record and representing a 25.6% year-on-year increase. This accounted for 39.5% of total exports, reversing a five-month streak where exports lagged behind those of ICT products. Exports of ICT and audiovisual products reached US$19.27 billion, the highest ever for the same month, representing an 86.9% year-on-year increase. Shipments of graphics cards and servers maintained rapid growth.
